There are two normal ways onto VKDMR IPSC3: through a repeater or by hotspot. Repeaters give the cleanest local operating path. Hotspots are ideal when you are mobile, travelling, or working outside repeater coverage.
Program the correct repeater frequencies, colour code, and timeslot layout for your local VKDMR repeater. Local and regional operation generally starts on the repeater first and uses hotspots as a convenience path rather than the default path.
Use the live Repeaters page to see what is connected right now and which systems are up.
Hotspots connect using the MMDVM protocol. Duplex hotspots behave like two independent slots. Simplex hotspots only have one effective talkpath, and IPSC3 handles that automatically.
When a simplex hotspot moves to a 380x or other dynamic talkgroup, IPSC3 mutes TG 505 and other competing traffic on that hotspot until the selected talkgroup has been quiet long enough to time out. This prevents the common drag-back problem without relying on hotspot-side parameters.
Use the live Hotspots page to confirm that your hotspot is registered, connected, and seeing current traffic.
