DMR Nets and Broadcasts

VKDMR IPSC3 is intended to carry both casual traffic and scheduled activity. The network works best when nets use the correct talkgroup and leave clean pauses so linked systems can catch up.

VKDMR National Net

Tuesday 0900Z on TG 505. This is the main national on-network gathering point and the simplest way to test audio, timing, and routing across the VKDMR system.

WIA National News

Sunday 1030 local on TG 5. Leave extra spacing before and after scheduled news inserts so late-linked systems do not chop the first seconds of audio.

Amateur Radio Newsline

Carried on TG 5. Treat broadcasts as wide-area traffic and avoid local overs while the bulletin is underway.

Running a net on IPSC3

  • Choose a talkgroup that matches the scope of the net.
  • Advise operators of the correct timeslot and whether it is dynamic or static.
  • Leave deliberate pauses between overs so all linked paths settle.
  • Keep opening audio slightly slow and deliberate; announcement and link-up timing still matters on mixed repeater and hotspot paths.
