Parrot is the quickest way to check whether your radio audio is intelligible, whether your timing is sensible, and whether your radio ID resolves correctly. It works with direct and group calls on all endpoints, so it is useful even when a codeplug is not quite right.
TG 9990 is the parrot service. It records your call, plays it back so you can hear how you actually sound on the network, then announces your callsign in audio to confirm your radio ID is correct.
Parrot is supported on repeaters, simplex hotspots and duplex hotspots. Group and direct use are handled so the reply goes back in the same logical style you called it with. If your callsign cannot be found from your radio ID, parrot will speak the full radio ID instead.
Keep tests short. Speak at normal pace. Leave a pause after key-up. If the replay is clipped or distorted, fix the radio or hotspot before moving back to live talkgroups.
