Talkgroup Scan

Talkgroup scan lets a repeater or hotspot monitor active VKDMR and connected-network traffic from a single programmed channel. Instead of manually chasing activity across different talkgroups, you park the radio on TG 777 TS1 and IPSC3 brings eligible live traffic back to you on that scan channel.

Program your radio

Create a normal group-call contact for TG 777 and add a channel using Timeslot 1, the correct colour code, and the normal repeater or hotspot frequency you use for VKDMR. Name it something clear such as VKDMR Scan.

Start scan mode

Move to the TG 777 TS1 channel and briefly key up. You should hear audio feedback confirming scan mode has been enabled, and the dashboard will show that repeater or hotspot in Scan state.

Reply on 777

When scan mode follows an active talkgroup, keep your radio on TG 777 TS1. If you reply, IPSC3 sends your audio back to the last active talkgroup automatically. You do not need to change channel or manually select the active talkgroup.

How it behaves

  • Scan mode is intended for monitoring active VKDMR and connected-network traffic without manually chasing talkgroups.
  • Eligible traffic can include VKDMR, CQUK, BrandMeister VK, Quadra and other approved connected networks.
  • Audio from the followed talkgroup is translated back to TG 777 TS1 for your repeater or hotspot.
  • Replies made on TG 777 TS1 are translated back to the last active talkgroup automatically.
  • When the active talkgroup goes quiet, IPSC3 returns the endpoint to scan mode.
  • Audio feedback announces talkgroup connect and disconnect events so you know what the system is doing.
  • On the dashboard, the endpoint status changes from Connected to Scan.
  • The dashboard Talkgroup and Speaker columns continue to show the active traffic being followed.
  • TG 777 is not shown as a normal live conversation on the Live Talkgroup Status screen.

Leaving scan mode

To leave scan mode, key TG 400 or key another talkgroup directly. IPSC3 will cancel scan mode for that repeater or hotspot and return it to normal operation.

Repeaters can have scan mode disabled or session-limited individually by policy, so availability can vary by site.
